A Minority Of One

Insanity is a minority of one. When someone’s experience with reality is separate and distinct from those around them, that person is the minority. They feel and view the world around them in a way that contradicts how everyone else views and feels the world. In our struggle with compulsive behavior and in our relationship with Christ, this is a dangerous mindset.
Many of us have lived our lives at odds with reality. We fought the battles of extremism and self righteousness. We lived in a way that was contradictory to God’s plan and His will for our lives. And we suffered the consequences. Most often the consequence of living alone in our own reality was insanity.
In Christ centered recovery we learn that we cannot be the center of our own world. We give up dominion and allow Christ to be the real King. This process of restoration to reality is often uncomfortable and sometimes painful. The birth pains of reality are necessary for us to live a life of sanity and real obedience to God. We are no longer a minority of one and Christ restores us.
At this my body is racked with pain, pangs seize me, like those of a woman in labor; I am staggered by what I hear, I am bewildered by what I see. Isaiah 21:3
Father God, I am ready to go through the pain of change in order to be restored. I no longer want to live my life separate from you and others. I surrender the part of me that wants to stay separated. You hold me and comfort me as I go through this process. Your love changes me.

I knew what INSANITY ment when I came into recovery. But to learn what SANITY means…that was life changing. I found that the truth is not what I was told, the truth was the result of what I was told. Once I understood the effects of the abuse in my home, I understood why the abuse happened. It was to kill, steal and distroy.I carried all that junk into my kids lives too until Jesus saved me and today, I strive to teach my children the truth…the reason and the effect of truth. Make sure you know understand the reason that you make the decisions you make…it could change the future!
SANITY; Wholeness of mind making decisions based on the truth.
